He was in the second graduating class of three students at Sugar Bowl, back when the academy ran out of the old Caltrans lodge, and students hauled the firewood that kept it warm. What followed was a D1 ski career that ended abruptly, an eight-year Navy contract, and a film production company he financed by mortgaging his own house. Matt talks about failure as a redirector rather than a terminator, the mentors who changed how he made decisions, and why the only permission you ever need is your own.
